LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Police say a Confederate statue in Kentucky has been vandalized with orange paint.

Louisville Police spokeswoman Alicia Smiley told media that park workers found the statue Sunday morning, a day after violent clashes erupted between white supremacists and counter protesters at a rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Crews were trying to clean the 15-foot bronze statue erected in 1913 for John Breckinridge Castleman, who served as a major in the Confederate army and later a brigadier general for the U.S. Army, according to a historical marker.

Smiley said police have not identified any suspects.
