HOOVER, Ala. (AP) - An 83-year-old former nurse has captured the title of Ms. Alabama Nursing Home.

The Dothan Eagle reports Sarah “Sally” Scott was crowned winner from a field of 10 finalists by Miss Alabama 2017 Jessica Proctor on Monday. The Dothan resident will serve as an official spokeswoman for the Alabama Nursing Home Association.

Scott told the audience she looked forward to travelling the state to meet people and help people understand the benefits of living in long-term care facilities.

Kristie Hughes, an administrator at Westside Terrace Healthcare where Scott shares a room with her husband, said in a written release that Scott knows the importance of seniors having support, as a former nurse.

Forty-nine contestants were evaluated on their outlook on life, personality, poise and involvement in their individual nursing homes.
