WESTWEGO, La. (AP) - Authorities say a man in his 60s was found dead inside of his Louisiana home after firefighters responded to reports of a “man in a wheelchair on fire.”
Nola.com/The Times-Picayune reports that no one else was injured in the fire Monday night. Firefighters responding to the call arrived at the Westwego home to find heavy black smoke flowing from the front of the home. Officials say the fire was brought under control within eight to 10 minutes and the man used a wheelchair, as the emergency call indicated.
Westwego Fire Department spokesman Keith Bouvier says the cause of the fire and the man’s death remains under investigation.
