BALTIMORE (AP) - A boat ride and ladder climb could be part of your commute to a wood-floored Maryland home on the Chesapeake Bay.

The Baltimore Sun reported on Tuesday that a lighthouse first lit in 1873 is being auctioned online. The Craighill Channel Lower Range Front Light Station is roughly 2 miles (3 kilometers) offshore from North Point State Park and uses latitude and longitude rather than an address.

According to the government website , the auction closes on Sep. 15 and the current bid is $15,000.

The lantern room at the tower’s top sits about 25 feet (nearly 10 meters) above the water’s surface. It also features a keeper quarters with a perimeter gallery deck.

Although the structure is for sale, the land it sits on underwater will remain in government ownership.
