PHOENIX (AP) - An elderly hiker visiting from out of town was rescued by helicopter from Camelback Mountain.

The Phoenix fire department said Friday afternoon that the 69-year-old man became lightheaded and dizzy on the Cholla Trail.

Crews located him after he reported he couldn’t make it back down.



He was rescued from the mountain by helicopter.

Authorities said he is from out of town but it’s unknown how long he had been hiking.

He was hospitalized in stable condition.
