Authorities probe death of woman found in Charlotte home

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Authorities have identified the body of a woman found dead inside a home in Charlotte.

Officials say officers responded to a welfare check at around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday found 34-year-old Jennifer Renee Smith inside a home. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say they are waiting for the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine a cause of death.

Authorities are investigating Smith’s death as a homicide and have not announced any arrests.
