SAN DIEGO (AP) - A mother and daughter have been found dead after fire gutted their San Diego home.
Flames were reported shooting out of the Craftsman-style home in Mission Hills at around 5 a.m. Tuesday.
Fire Battalion Chief Jeff Mitchell says the house was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. They had to fight the blaze from outside because a collapsing roof and ceiling made it too dangerous to go inside.
It took 30 firefighters about an hour to control the fire.
Mitchell says there were “semi-hoarder” conditions in the home.
Neighbors tell the San Diego Union-Tribune (https://bit.ly/2oWYMXh ) that a woman in her late 60s and a daughter in her 40s lived in the home.
Mitchell says the mother may have been bedridden.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
