PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - A Maine lobster boat owner will remain in jail as he awaits a trial on manslaughter at sea charges.

Christopher Hutchinson, of Cushing, was owner and captain of the boat No Limits, which flipped in heavy waves more than two years ago near Matinicus after hauling in lobster traps.

Two crew members died. Prosecutors say Hutchinson operated the boat after drinking and using drugs.

Hutchinson was arrested last month for violating the bail conditions when he used drugs and overdosed.

The Portland Press Herald reports his attorney wanted Hutchinson released to his parents so he could receive addiction treatment.

The magistrate judge on Monday agreed with prosecutors, who said Hutchinson wouldn’t be able to abide by bail conditions that he not use drugs.

His trial is planned for this year.
