LEXINGTON, S.C. (AP) - Police are seeking an elementary school teacher who has been charged with sexually assaulting a student.

The State reports (https://bit.ly/2pswMOz) 40-year-old Hianlucas Isturiz Rodriguez was a Spanish teacher for kindergarten students at Red Bank Elementary School. The Lexington County Sheriff’s Office said in a release Thursday that Rodriguez is charged with two counts of first-degree sexual conduct with a child at the school.

Sheriff Jay Koon says the man is accused of having sexual contact with the student multiple times this school year.

Lexington 1 school district spokeswoman Mary Beth Hill says Rodriguez’s last day at the school was just before the start of spring break earlier this month. She says he taught school in Venezuela before being hired at Red Bank in 2014 on a sponsored visa.
