SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - A woman is accused in southwestern Missouri of drunkenly causing a fatal car crash in December.
KOLR-TV (https://bit.ly/2qcGB3U ) reports that Greene County prosecutors have charged Melissa Mahan with first-degree involuntary manslaughter.
Authorities allege Mahan’s blood-alcohol level was .295 percent - more than three times the state’s legal threshold of intoxication - on Dec. 5 when her vehicle sideswiped a vehicle driven by Leslee Owrey of Fair Play.
Owrey’s vehicle then left the road and overturned, ejecting Owrey. She died at a hospital.
Online court records don’t show whether Mahan has an attorney.
