PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) - Prescott police say an armed man was fatally shot by an officer after the man confronted officers and earlier repeatedly fired multiple shots from a home at nearby residences and in the direction of police.
Police did not release the man’s identity and Officer David Fuller said he couldn’t provide immediately details on the circumstances of the fatal shooting or say whether the incident took place at the man’s own home.
According to police, people in nearby homes were either evacuated or asked to shelter in place and that the man who had been shooting was the only person injured.
A Police Department statement said the fatal shooting occurred after police began negotiations with the man and that the state Department of Public Safety is investigating the incident.
