ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New York voters say they are uninspired with the state’s new budget overall, but are optimistic about headline items promoted by lawmakers and Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

A Siena College poll released Monday found only 22 percent of voters ranked the budget as excellent or good. More than two-thirds of respondents say specific initiatives like a $2.5 billion water infrastructure fund, allowing ride-hailing services to operate upstate, and free college tuition for middle class families will improve New York.

The budget passed more than a week late, a first for Cuomo, whose 54-37 percent favorability rating was fairly consistent with 54-40 percent last month.

President Donald Trump received a 34-61 favorability rating in the poll.

The April 17-20 survey of 714 registered voters has a margin of error of 4.1 percent.
