NEWPORT, Ore. (AP) - Newport police arrested a 19-year-old man accused of threatening two people with a handgun.

The department said Monday that the victims told police that Brian Lighthill retrieved the gun from his vehicle after a verbal argument turned physical.

They said the teen tapped the barrel of the firearm on their windshield, pointed the weapon at them and made menacing comments. The victims were able to drive away and call police.

The department says officers stopped Lighthill three blocks away and found a loaded .45 caliber handgun in the center console of his vehicle.

The Seal Rock resident was booked into the Lincoln County Jail on charges of menacing, unlawful firearm possession, pointing a firearm at another, drunken driving and being a minor with alcohol.

Bail was set at $75,000.
