CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - It’s opening day for fishing on waterways that are specifically managed for trout in New Hampshire.
Fishing is allowed in designated trout ponds and fly-fishing-only ponds starting Saturday, with the season running through Oct. 15.
Ponds managed for trout may be stocked with multiple species, including brook, rainbow and brown trout. Fish and Game officials say French Pond in Henniker, William Pond in Weare and Dublin Lake in Dublin are just a few of the generously stocked early season hotspots.
Those looking for a more wilderness experience can venture to the nearly 50 remote ponds that Fish and Game stocks with fingerling brook trout via helicopter.
Archery Pond in Allenstown is a popular fly-fishing-only pond that has a wheelchair-accessible casting platform.
