EDGEMOOR, Del. (AP) - Delaware police say a 13-year-old boy has been charged with shooting another teenager.
Local news media outlets report that the 13-year-old is facing first-degree assault and possession of a firearm during the possession of a felony among other charges.
Police say the 15-year-old has been released from the hospital since the Sunday night shooting.
They say the 13-year-old was taken to the New Castle County Detention Center after failing to post $35,000 secured bail.
New Castle County Police Chief Col. Vaughn Bond said the shooting is particularly concerning because the suspect is so young.
Bond said he hopes it serves as a “wake-up call to all adults that we have a responsibility to do more to reach and teach our children.”
