BEND, Ore. (AP) - Sheriff Shane Nelson of Deschutes County announced the firings of two employees.

Nelson said separate, unrelated investigations concluded their on-duty conduct violated sheriff’s office policies. He said he will release more information when the terminations are finalized in a few weeks.

He identified the workers as patrol Sgt. Dan Bilyeu and Lt. Robert Trono. The lieutenant worked at the county jail.

The firings come a month a deputy was let go for an off-duty incident in which he grabbed a 67-year-old woman by the arm after a minor traffic accident.

Last fall, a captain was sentenced to prison for stealing more than $200,000 from the county and using the funds to buy gifts for an ex-colleague with whom he had a romantic relationship.
