MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - Jay Drury is stepping down as the leader of West Virginia University’s marching band.
The university says in a news release that Drury has resigned as director of athletic bands and associate director of bands effective June 1.
WVU School of Music director Keith Jackson says Scott Tobias will be in charge of the marching band next fall while the school conducts a search for Drury’s successor. Tobias is WVU’s director of bands and an assistant professor of music.
Drury was named director of “The Pride of West Virginia” in 2005. The band appeared in the 2016 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.
