KEALIA, Hawaii (AP) - Police say a third person has died after a traffic accident on the island of Kauai in which a car crashed into an oncoming delivery truck.
The Kauai County Police Department says Kawainakoa Camat, 2, died Sunday at Queen’s Hospital in Oahu. His mother, 28, remains in critical condition at the hospital.
The department says the crash took place shortly after 9 a.m. Friday when a Nissan Cube heading south on Kuhio Highway crossed the center line and crashed into the truck.
The driver of the Nissan, 28-year-old Markis Carveiro of Kapa’a, died at the scene. A back seat passenger, Ashley Gorospe, age 26, of Kapa’a, was pronounced dead at Wilcox Hospital in Lihue.
Police say the mother and her son were in the back seat. The truck driver was not hurt.
