IPSWICH, Mass. (AP) - A town worker cleaning up after a brush fire has been injured by a falling tree.

Ipswich Police Chief Paul Nikas says the worker was injured on Sunday morning and transported by helicopter to a Boston hospital.

The 46-year-old man works for Ipswich’s Department of Public Works. He was part of a crew helping with overhaul operations after forest fires on Saturday. His name hasn’t been released. The injuries are considered serious but not life-threatening.



Ipswich police are investigating. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been notified.
