SOUTH AMBOY, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a head-on crash involving a wrong-way driver on a New Jersey highway has left two men dead and three people injured.

South Amboy police say the crash occurred around 2:15 a.m. Sunday in the northbound lanes of Route 9.

A preliminary investigation found a minivan driven by 51-year-old Percell Livingston Jr., of East Orange, was heading the wrong way when he crashed into a minivan driven by 31-year-old Miguel Mendoza-Chong, of Perth Amboy.

Both men were pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

Three passengers riding in Mendoza-Chong’s car were taken to hospitals.

A 28-year-old woman was treated for undisclosed injuries and was released. But the other two - identified only as a 38-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman - were hospitalized in serious condition.
