EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - Authorities say a single-engine plane has made an emergency landing on a highway about 1 mile from the Eugene airport.
The Register-Guard reported (https://goo.gl/0NHKPw ) that pilot Brandon Wynn landed his Van’s RV12 plane on State Highway 99 North Friday afternoon after experiencing engine trouble.
Wynn says he was giving a flying lesson to 22-year-old Jacob Brands when he looked over and saw the oil pressure had spun to zero.
Wynn says flying back to the runway was his goal but he had to bring the plane down sooner. Brands helped Wynn make a safe landing on the highway by calling out cars he saw below the plane.
Neither man was injured.
Wynn has been flying planes since 2009 and has been an instructor at Lane Aviation Academy for nearly a year.
