ESSEX, Vt. (AP) - Police say a possible threat that led to a lockdown of six schools in Vermont was a fictitious event.
They say the veracity of the threat that led to the lockdown on Wednesday has been “greatly diminished.” They are still investigating.
A police presence was at Essex High School as a precaution Thursday. Police had said an armed person threatened to appear at the school, prompting the lockdown there and at five other schools in Essex.
Police searched the school and did not find any potential threats.
The other schools involved are Hiawatha Elementary, Summit Street School, Thomas Fleming School, Albert D. Lawton School (ADL), and the Center for Technology.
