MTV will dust off a blast from the past by reviving the early 2000s reality show “Fear Factor,” Variety magazine reported Wednesday.
The first of ten episodes is set to air May 30, with rapper Ludacris hosting. Actor and stand-up comedian Joe Rogan hosted the program on NBC from 2001-2006 and again for one season from 2011-12, according to his eponymous website. The series is available for streaming on Hulu.
According to Variety the revival of the format is in “keeping with the trend of reality TV revivals that has swept across cable.”
Streaming video services of late have also been diving deeper into the reality TV pool, with Netflix, for example, expected to have reality TV and other unscripted content reaching into the double digits by year’s end according to recent reports.
