FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - The Transportation Cabinet says crews have begun spraying weeds growing around state highways in northeastern Kentucky.
The agency says in a statement that the treatments are aimed at controlling a variety of nuisance weeds, which have the potential to damage roadways, interfere with a driver’s vision and smother native plants and grasses if left untreated. The agency says drivers should use caution and watch for slow-moving spray trucks.
Crews are targeting weeds such as Johnsongrass, Canada thistle, Amur honeysuckle, poison hemlock, Japanese knotweed and kudzu.
