NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) - A probation officer in New Jersey has admitted accepting bribes to protect a man who continued using drugs while on probation for drug offenses.
Forty-eight-year-old Rhonda Battle of Roselle pleaded guilty to official misconduct on Monday. Battle admitted accepting cash to keep her client’s name off a random drug-testing list, knowing he would test positive for drug abuse.
Under terms of a plea agreement, Battle will face at least two years in prison with no chance of parole when she’s sentenced in Middlesex County in June. In addition, she’ll forfeit public employment.
