WOODSIDE, Del. (AP) - Delaware police say a man prohibited from owning a gun fled from an accident and was later found with illegal weapons.
News outlets report 25-year-old Andrew C. Edington was arrested Saturday and charged with multiple offenses including possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and leaving the scene of a damage collision. Officials say Edington drove his truck into a car and later fled the scene.
Police spokesman Gary Fournier says when Edington was pulled over by officers after the car crash he reached for a large knife inside the cab of the truck, but was quickly arrested.
Authorities say they recovered a .38 caliber revolver hidden behind a broken piece of plastic trim as well as drug paraphernalia.
It’s not clear if Edington has an attorney.
