LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - Authorities say a man arrested in the armed robbery of a Las Cruces fast-food restaurant is a former employee.
Las Cruces police say 22-year-old Israel Lopez is being held on $100,000 cash-only bond on suspicion of armed robbery and tampering with evidence.
Police were dispatched to a Taco Bell restaurant in the early morning hours of April 3.
They say a man went into the business posing as a customer before pulling out a handgun and demanding money from an employee.
Investigators learned from restaurant management the suspect appeared to be Lopez, who was recently fired from the same Taco Bell restaurant for allegedly stealing money from the business.
Police say evidence from the robbery has been found inside Lopez’s home and car.
It’s unclear if Lopez has a lawyer.
