NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A company billing itself as a resource provider for disaster restoration has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection following a spate of lawsuits related to a traffic accident that left three dead.
The New Orleans Advocate reports (https://bit.ly/2ok9Y14 ) that Wallace, Rush, Schmidt Inc. voluntarily filed for bankruptcy in New Orleans federal court on March 24. The company’s owners include an Arkansas state representative and a St. Tammany Parish constable. WRS listed less than $1.7 million is assets and more than $2.7 million in liabilities.
In August 2016, three died and three dozen others were injured after a bus of people interested in repairing flood-damaged buildings in Baton Rouge crashed into a firetruck and several other cars. Driver Dennis Amaya, who was unlicensed, awaits trial for several charges.
