GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) - Players, coaches and staff with the University of North Dakota men’s hockey team that won the national title last season have some new bling.
Team members were presented with their NCAA national championship rings during a private ceremony Wednesday night at Ralph Engelstad arena.
The rings were financed through a gift from the Engelstad Family Foundation and created by Jostens Inc. with the collaboration of UND Athletics. They feature an interlocking “ND” on top surrounded by eight green emeralds, representing the school’s eight national hockey titles.
The sides of the ring feature player information, the championship trophy, the arena, the team record and a championship banner.
UND captured the NCAA Division I crown on April 9 with a 5-1 victory over Quinnipiac at the Frozen Four in Tampa, Florida.
