AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Investigators say a 37-year-old woman found dead on a trail in Austin had been struck by lightning.

The Travis County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday announced a medical examiner determined Michelle Ann Wolfe of Austin died from electrocution by lightning strike.

A sheriff’s statement says a runner late Sunday afternoon came upon Wolfe’s body and called 911. The victim was about a mile from the River Place trailhead. Detectives say a tree limb was down close to the body and some nearby objects were singed.

The death has been ruled accidental.
