ELK GROVE, Calif. (AP) - A Sacramento County tribe has reached a tentative agreement with the city of Elk Grove to build a major casino resort on Highway 99.

The Sacramento Bee reports (https://bit.ly/2deZFGO ) that the Elk Grove City Council is set to vote on the agreement with the Wilton Rancheria tribe on Wednesday. The agreement would have the tribe pay Elk Grove $132 million over 20 years to offset the impacts of the tribe’s planned $400 million casino development.

The agreement would move the tribe’s plans for a 12-story, 302-room hotel, a convention center and entertainment facility forward. The casino would also feature restaurants, bars and a major gambling floor.

The planned casino has sparked controversy in the community of Elk Grove, with residents debating whether the economic impact outweighs the planned gambling.
