PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix police say an officer shot and wounded a man who allegedly raised a gun after ramming a parked police SUV with his car.
Police say Tuesday night’s incident involved undercover officers and an ongoing drug investigation.
Officers arranged to meet a drug seller in the parking lot of a north Phoenix convenience store.
The seller was armed and pointed a gun at officers when police moved in to make an arrest.
The man rammed his car into a police vehicle in an attempt to flee and was shot by an undercover officer.
Police say the 26-year-old suspect remains hospitalized in extremely critical condition. His name’s being withheld.
They say a 23-year-old man who was a passenger in the suspect’s car was arrested on weapons charges and an outstanding warrant.
