PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say a Phoenix man has been arrested in connection with the death of a motorist changing a tire on Interstate 17.
Arizona Department of Public Safety officials say 61-year-old Ronald Hull was booked into jail on suspicion of one count of manslaughter, three counts of aggravated assault and three counts of endangerment.
Bond was set at $150,000 at Hull’s initial court appearance Wednesday. He doesn’t have a lawyer yet.
Authorities say Hull was the driver of a pickup truck that allegedly hit 24-year-old Steven Variale and two other people early Tuesday. Variale later died from his injuries.
DPS officials say a preliminary breath alcohol test showed Hull had a blood-alcohol level of 0.118 percent. That’s well above Arizona’s legal limit of 0.08 percent for drivers.
