TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - A Philadelphia man involved in the sex trafficking of a 15-year-old girl has been sentenced to eight years in prison.
Federal prosecutors in New Jersey say 38-year-old Samuel Verrier also must pay the girl $60,000 in restitution under the sentence imposed Wednesday.
Prosecutors say that Verrier served as the girl’s pimp for about two weeks in August 2011.
They also say that Verrier and a co-defendant drove the girl from Philadelphia to Bordentown, New Jersey in September 2011 so they could use her in an extortion scheme.
The two told the girl to approach a man in a parking lot, seduce him and take pictures of the sexual encounter so they could blackmail him. But the man declined the girl’s advances and a witness called police.
