TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - An Arizona State University student has been accused of taking videos and photographs of women in bathrooms on the Tempe campus.

ASU police say 21-year-old Xiaoyuan Zhang was arrested after being spotted taking videos of women in bathroom stalls Monday night.

Some of the women saw what he was allegedly doing and called police.

Due to a language barrier, Zhang was taken to the ASU police station and was interviewed by an officer who speaks Mandarin.

They say Zhang consented to a search of his cellphone and police found photos or videos of six women.

Zhang was arrested on suspicion of surreptitious photography and is jailed on a $5,000 bond.

He didn’t have a lawyer at his initial court appearance Tuesday.

Zhang’s next scheduled court appearance is Oct. 4.
