AMARILLO, Texas (AP) - Amarillo police have lifted their warning for residents to remain indoors in a rural neighborhood where gunfire was reported.

Officer Jeb Hilton says no one has been hurt in the gunfire reported around 9 a.m. Wednesday. He said investigators checked one residence but no arrests were reported.

Hilton says members of a construction crew called Amarillo police to report hearing shots fired and bullets striking near where they were working. Officers arrived and also heard more shots and bullets hit the ground nearby.
