RENO, Nev. (AP) - Authorities are identifying a motorcyclist from Georgetown, California, who was shot dead during the weekend on Interstate 80, and are trying to determine if the slaying was linked to an earlier fight at a Reno bar.
California Highway Patrol Capt. Ryan Stonebraker tells KOLO-TV in Reno (https://bit.ly/2dwGKGM ) that investigators believe 57-year-old Jeffrey Sterling Duke was surrounded by three motorcycle riders and shot Saturday afternoon while riding west near Truckee.
Stonebraker says investigators are looking at freeway video to identify the assailants.
The highway patrol captain didn’t confirm whether Duke was involved in the Saturday fight at the Wonder Bar.
Stonebraker tells KRNV-TV (https://bit.ly/2diLI9M ) that authorities also hadn’t confirmed whether Duke was a motorcycle club member.
But he says there’s a “strong likelihood” of gang involvement in his slaying.
