BANGOR, Maine (AP) - A federal judge in Maine chastised a 38-year-old Winthrop man for turning his mother’s home into a “drug den” before sentencing him to serve just short of five years behind bars.

The Kennebec Journal reports (https://bit.ly/2cZGMYA ) Judge John Woodcock Jr. handed down a 57-month prison sentence to Chad Goucher on Monday in federal court in Bangor.

Goucher pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute heroin and several gun charges in February.

Woodcock said at sentencing that Goucher disgraced his family’s name by dealing drugs out of his mother’s home.

A March 2016 search of the residence turned up heroin, drug paraphernalia and three guns - including a .12-gauge sawed-off shotgun.

The investigation into Goucher was conducted by local police and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
