PHOENIX (AP) - Court officials say a former Maricopa County sheriff’s deputy has pleaded guilty to theft and drug paraphernalia charges.

The pleas entered Tuesday in Superior Court follow Scott Michael Walters’ arrest in 2015 as a result of an investigation into multiple robberies and attempted robberies in the Phoenix area.

At the time of his arrest, he denied any involvement in crimes but said he was a heroin addict.

Police searched his home and reported finding boots and glasses believed to have been used in the robberies plus narcotic drugs, drug paraphernalia and a ledger documenting the sale of drugs.
