PORTAGE, Wis. (AP) - Authorities have arrested a southern Wisconsin man in the poisoning of his dog.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office says deputies arrested the 28-year-old Poynette man on Friday on suspicion of felony mistreatment of animals.
Deputies responded to the man’s home in the Village of Arlington on May 1, 2015, on a complaint of suspicious containers and food found in the fenced-in backyard. The man’s 4-year-old golden retriever, named Gander, died on suspected poisoning two days later.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (https://bit.ly/2dxciiu ) reports the man is in jail awaiting a court appearance.
