ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - A 25-year-old man is charged with fatally stabbing a man outside of an apartment in St. Paul’s Ramsey Hill neighborhood last week.

Maxim Rhone was charged Monday in Ramsey County court with two counts of second-degree murder.

Rhone is accused of stabbing 28-year-old Gerald Montantes of St. Paul on Friday.

According to the complaint, Montantes was at the apartment to collect property belonging to his girlfriend, who had been staying at the apartment with Rhone.

The complaint says Montantes went back to the apartment to get his phone when he was stabbed. When police arrived, the complaint says, Rhone said, “I stabbed him.”

The St. Paul Pioneer Press (https://bit.ly/2dxITVt ) reports Rhone is jailed with bail set at $1 million. The public defender’s office, which is representing him, declined comment.
