Firefighter dies after falling from ladder at home

HANOVER, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts firefighter has died from injuries he sustained after falling off a ladder at his home.

Hanover firefighter and paramedic Gregory Hawes died Sunday.

Authorities say he fell off the ladder while he was doing yard work at his home last week. He was hospitalized in critical condition before succumbing to his injuries.

The department said Hawes was a “good firefighter, a compassionate paramedic and a great person.”

Hawes had been with the department since 2014.
