BALTIMORE (AP) - Police say one child was killed and three others are in critical condition after a car crash in Baltimore.

Baltimore police say the car the children were riding in was traveling at a high rate of speed when it crossed the double yellow line and collided with an SUV that was headed the other direction.

Police say an 11-year-old girl was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Three other children who were in the car are in critical condition.

Authorities say the 26-year-old driver of the car that hit the SUV has been taken into custody.

Police say he didn’t have a valid Maryland driver’s license. They say alcohol and speed were factors in the crash and that criminal charges against the man are forthcoming.
