NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A new Louisiana National Guard readiness center has formally opened in Franklinton.

The Guard says in a news release that the readiness center was completed in July. It replaces a 41-year-old facility that was badly damaged in 2012 by Hurricane Isaac. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Friday.

Features include an indoor computerized shooting range, an assembly hall, locker room space for up to 115 soldiers and a backup generator.

The readiness center will be used to support the federal and state missions of the 843rd Horizontal Engineer Company, 205th Engineer Battalion.
