HARPER WOODS, Mich. (AP) - A Michigan State Police trooper is in stable condition with broken bones after his motorcycle crashed on a Detroit-area interstate.
Trooper Ali Hammoud was traveling to the funeral of a Detroit police officer Friday when his motorcycle was struck by another vehicle on Interstate 94. State police say the crash occurred because vehicles were forced to suddenly react to a reckless driver in a road rage incident.
State police say Hammoud has broken ribs and clavicle. He’s in pain but also in “good spirits.”
Authorities still are searching for the driver of a pickup truck blamed for the road rage. Lt. Mike Shaw made a promise, saying, “We’ll get him.”
Shaw and other officers left the church in St. Clair Shores to respond to the crash.
