GREENSBURG, La. (AP) - State education officials have revoked the license for an early learning center in St. Helena Parish, terminating its public funding.
The state Department of Education says Friday’s termination comes after complaints that employees at Blooming Faces Daycare in Greensburg took children, including infants, on a “walking excursion” on a busy highway with no sidewalk.
Education Superintendent John White tells WBRZ-TV (https://bit.ly/2d6vAuC ) that the decisions made by individuals at the center were irresponsible and put the lives of children at risk even though no one was injured.
White says the center has been cited for more than 140 deficiencies this year, including not obtaining parent’s permission for field trips, violating child to staff ratios, lack of supervision, and failure to properly train staff.
The center has 15 days to appeal.
