The White House panned Donald Trump’s advocacy of police “stop-and-frisk” tactics, saying it won’t happen as long as President Obama is in office.
Referring to the recommendations of Mr. Obama’s community policing task force, White House press secretary Josh Earnest said, “expanding and doubling down on the stop-and-frisk policy is not among the suggestions, for obvious reasons.”
Mr. Trump is advocating broader use of the random searches to help fight crime in major cities. Mr. Earnest said the Republican is pandering for votes by promising to protect the Second Amendment but being “so cavalier” about the Fourth Amendment’s protections against unreasonable search and seizure.
