Donald Trump said Thursday that his results from a recent physical were good — a sentiment backed up by Dr. Mehmet Oz, who said records he saw from Mr. Trump on Wednesday show the GOP nominee is “without question” healthy enough to be president.

“I guess I wouldn’t be talking to you right now if they were bad. If they were bad, I would say let’s sort of skip this, right?” Mr. Trump said on “Fox and Friends.”

“The cholesterol I think is quite good. Everything is really good,” he said.

Mr. Trump taped an appearance on Dr. Oz’s show on Wednesday, with the episode scheduled to air on Thursday.

Dr. Oz said Thursday that based on the results Mr. Trump showed him, Mr. Trump is healthy enough to be president.

“The records that I got, without question, indicate he’s healthy enough to be president,” he said on NBC’s “Today” program. “If I, as a doctor, had a patient like him, I would think … good health for a man of his age, and I’d send him on his way.”

Dr. Oz said a letter Mr. Trump gave him on Wednesday is one that a physician would give another regarding a patient.

“It was a comprehensive summary of a battery of tests, some of which occurred last week,” Dr. Oz said, saying it also included outlines of other tests like colonoscopies and heart scans.

“I did not do the tests myself so I can’t confirm that the data was all right, but the summary is pretty clear,” he said.

“The letter I read would be typical for a person who’s running a company, and I think that’s pretty parallel. It’s not exactly the same, but pretty parallel to what you want to have in order to judge if someone is going to be healthy enough to lead you,” he said.

Dr. Oz said he extended invitations to appear on his show to both Mr. Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, whose campaign put out more information on her health Wednesday in the wake of her recent bout with pneumonia.

“I’m glad she released her records, [because] we’re a much more informed country today than we were yesterday about the health of our candidates, which makes me feel good,” Dr. Oz said.
