Billionaire Mark Cuban has stumped on behalf of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, but he now says her staffers “don’t have a clue.”
Mr. Cuban, the owner of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks, is publicly blasting Mrs. Clinton’s campaign less than two months after giving a speech at one of her rallies in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He told Business Insider on Wednesday that her team “sucks” at wrestling control of news cycles away from Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
“The Clinton staff sucks at spin and at anticipation and driving the message or driving the topics, driving the conversation. Horrible at it. Horrible,” Mr. Cuban told the website. “But when it comes to the stuff that you know it’s going to drive the headline porn, they are just not great.”
The businessman went on to say that Mrs. Clinton’s fainting spell over the weekend and her campaign’s reaction to it was further evidence of ineptitude.
“She gets sick, she gets sick, but again it’s not disaster because when it’s been a week it works itself out. There’s no disaster here,” Mr. Cuban told BI. “The quantity of coverage is more a reflection of filling time than anything else, because again, now you’ve got to cover the response. And they could’ve minimized it a whole lot more than they did, but that’s another example of the campaign staff not having a clue.”
The former secretary of state’s campaign initially told reporters that she was “overheated,” during a Sept. 11 memorial service in New York City, although her doctor issued a statement hours later blaming pneumonia.
The NBA owner told Mrs. Clinton’s supporters on July 30 that his vote for her signified a vote “for the American Dream.”
