Ivanka Trump said Wednesday that her father’s health is “unbelievable” and that she should be so lucky to be able to keep up the campaign schedule Donald Trump is keeping during his presidential run.
“I will tell you that the strength, the stamina that is required of what he does every day is unbelievable,” Ms. Trump said on ABC’s “Good Morning America.” “His health is unbelievable, so I should be so lucky to keep his schedule these days.”
There have been renewed questions about the health of Mr. Trump and his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton after Mrs. Clinton’s team belatedly disclosed that she had been diagnosed with pneumonia last Friday — a bout that has sidelined her from the public campaign trail in recent days.
Ms. Trump was with her father in Pennsylvania on Tuesday to help him roll out a paid parental leave policy and a plan to provide tax benefits for child care expenses.
“Respectfully, Hillary Clinton has been around for decades and there’s no policy benefitting either mothers or fathers in terms of paid leave,” Ms. Trump said. “So I think the fact that we are advocating for this and advocating for it so strongly and taking leadership on this issue is testament in itself to our thoughts on this subject.”
It was pointed out to Ms. Trump that Mrs. Clinton does have a plan on her website for up to 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave. Her website says the plan will be paid for with “tax reforms that will ensure the wealthiest Americans pay their fair share.”
“We have not been in public office for the last several decades and she has, so she could have instituted some of those policies in that role and has not done so,” Ms. Trump said.
